We are going to chase trains and shoot them with the best views in the Canadian Rockies!
This photography adventure will take us through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Canadian Rockies as we chase and photograph trains.
We are excited and honoured to have our in house train expert Dr. Leslie Pidcock join us for this adventure! Leslie has extensive experience in the world of Canadian trains. She has worked as a railyard manager and was the Manager of Heritage Programs for CP Rail and, Managed CP’s historic brands, archives and the operation and maintenance of a Heritage steam train. She was also the Managing Director of the Royal Canadian Pacific railway. She was also responsible for repatriating the “2816” locomotive to CP. (she is also interested in photography). In short, she knows a lot about trains. Leslie has kindly offered to join us and tell us a lot about trains and Canada and the history of the railroad. After all, the railroad plays an important role and has a deep history with Canada.
The plan:
We will meet and begin photographing trains near Canmore and then drive west. We will have a train scanner with us so we know where the trains are and the best times to photograph them. We will chase the trains west and see many famous spots like the Spiral Tunnels and Morant's Curve and many other 'secret' places to shoot. We will end at Lake Louise for a drink and photo review at The Station restaurant in Lake Louise http://www.lakelouisestation.com. The Station is a heritage train station and full of great train history, photos and we can watch trains go by as we look at our photos.
