Ice climbing; The sport of climbing frozen waterfalls. With spikes on their feet and ice picks in their hands, climbers dance their way up beautiful blue waterfall popsicles. Deep ocean blues, pillars the colour of sky, white crystal chandeliers- so many colours and textures. Alberta has the best ice climbing in the world! We have have over 1000 routes. Climbers come from all over the world to climb our popsicles!
This is the sport that I became well known as a photographer- and the first assignment for National Geographic- being a popsicle paparazzi!
This workshop is an experience you will never forget! It is an opportunity to photograph ice climbers climbing a frozen waterfall. The climbers will be our models and we can direct them to where we want them in our frame and control the action.
You will not be climbing. We will be on the ground shooting a variety of angles. The walk to the ice climb is about 30 min on flat ground. No special skills are required. We will have a certified mountain guide with us to assist.
You will come away with amazing photos of beautiful blue ice, white frozen chandeliers and lots of incredible action.
What you will learn: You will learn how to shoot action combined with landscape. Great skills you can use photographing your kids at play, events or summer family vacations, or sports.
