Ice Climbing Shoot

This special photography adventure is an opportunity to photograph professional ice climbers climbing for our cameras! Think of it is as a private photo shoot with our own climbers/ 'models'.

The Canadian Rockies is famous for ice climbing!  We have over 1000 routes from Jasper to Waterton! We have the best routes in the world and climbers come from all over the world to climb them!

Brad has climbed and photographed hundreds of routes across the Rockies and done dozens of first ascents.
Ice climbing and shooting ice climbing are Brad's specialty. His Ice climbing photos were his first work to appear in National Geographic.

Brad will show you how to capture this beautiful sport. The shoot takes place in March when the ice is thick and days are warmer- making for perfect climbing and shooting conditions!

The Plan
This adventure will take us to a beautiful canyon about 45 from Banff. We will meet our two professional ACMG mountain guide/ice climbers Kris Irwin and his climbing partner, do a short hike into the canyon. The two climbers will 'pose' for us as they climb an amazing blue waterfall.

We shoot from ground, standing on snow. We won't be using ropes or leaving the ground. Then, as the sun gets lower, we will light the blue ice and climbers and shoot more!

Note
There is no climbing involved in this workshop. We will be on the ground moving around shooting from a variety of angles. The hike into the canyon is rated as 'easy'. No special equipment is required.
