is there a class size limit?
the class is limited to 50 students with 1 instructor and up to 2 assistants. fotoscool has developed a fun and interactive method of teaching that involves hands-on instruction on an individual level, in pairs and small groups. at fotoscool you will not be sitting in a seat for 4 hours with a bunch of people. you will learn through lectures, in-class hands-on exercises and playing outdoors practicing what you learned. learn, practice, and play.

is this class appropriate for 'newbies'? (those of us with very limited experience?)
yes, this is a great class for beginners.

will participants have an opportunity to actually take photos? if so, what and where will they primarily be shooting? 
yes this course is all about hands- on learning!
fotoscool prides itself in giving you the opportunity to learn in a fun and hands on environment where you learn by taking pictures. there are several exercises in this course that will give you hands on experience in working with your camera.

what kind of camera do i need for the course?
a digital slr or another camera that has t, a, and m settings. 

do i need a flash?
no.
flash is not required. we teach flash tips, tricks and techniques in the intermediate workshop.

is there a reasonable but easy to use slr that you would recommend?
there is not a specific camera we would recommend other than one than a brand name, canon, nikon, pentax dslr that has a good lens - put your money into good lenses. 

i have purchased this as a gift and would like to purchase a 2nd lens for her olympus ev510 - can you recommend a good general purpose lense suitable for this course?
for this course a good lens is something in a focal range between 20 mm and 200 mm. we suggest a 24-70 mm or 24-105 mm.

what is the format of the course?
the course will be a combination of lecture and hands on exercises that will help you to practice your skills in progressions. exercises will take place both indoors and outdoors, so if it is cold outside dress warm and if it is wet bring an umbrella.

do I need to bring a lunch?
you can either bring lunch or purchase a meal from the restaurants in the area.

my husband and i would like to do this together, but only have 1 camera. can we still do the course and share a camera? 
yes, it is possible to have only one camera on the course as the exercises are designed to work with a partner who will be your 'supermodel'. : ) Please have two Groupons, one for each of you. Look forward to seeing you on the course!!!

is this a one-day or two-day course? how do I register for the single day I can attend on that weekend?
this is a one-day workshop. you can register by selecting the specific day.

i was wondering if this is a beginner only class? i have had a dslr for 3 years now & would like a more advanced class.
this class is for beginners and intermediate level photographers who want to learn how to take better pictures and take more control over their cameras. there are many tricks, techniques and exercises to learn how to master your camera and use a variety features on your camera.

i don't have an slr camera but do have a digital camera. the lens is not removeable. i am wondering if i could still take the photography workshop?
thanks for your interest in our course. does your camera have an option to put your camera on manual, aperture priority and shutter priority? the course will teach you how to take great shots, great exposures by taking control of those three features.

would you say this course is for those who have just purchased an slr or for those who are a little more advanced?
this course is for basic to intermediate photographers who want to learn how to get there camera off program and auto and use aperture priority, shutter priority and manual. The course offers hands-on instruction in how to create great photos by taking control of your camera and learning how to use the meter, the histogram and other features to your advantage.

i was wondering if it is imperative that one has 2 batteries for their camera in order to take this course?
one battery is fine. two is ideal.

will this be indoors all day?
it will be inside and outside.

will the instructor have an issue with a point and shoot only student?
no. point and shoot is ok if it has t, s, and m settings.

what if I don't have two memory cards and two batteries. Can I still attend? I don't want to spend the money on another battery. 
yes. no problem. it is just a suggestion of what would be ideal.
