​Portrait and Action Equestrian 
​Workshop

We have created a special event for everyone who loves horses and loves to photograph all things equestrian.

This special workshop is an opportunity to learn how to photograph horse and rider portraits and horses in action and all things equestrian. We will show you how to light, pose, compose and shoot portraits of horse and rider.  Then, we will show how you how to create amazing photos of horses in action jumping and performing in the arena and in nature. We will be working with our own horse and rider 'models'.

Some of the things you will learn:
  • how to create and use great lighting using natural, flash and studio lighting
  • what lenses to use and how to use each lens for great effect
  • how to focus and get tack sharp images for moving and non moving subjects
  • metering on the fly
  • how to create great black and white images of all the equestrian lines, shapes, texture and shadows
  • how to shoot to tell the story of an event
  • how to compose in barns and in the jumping arena for the greatest effect
  • how to shoot action with wide lenses and long lenses
  • what makes a great equestrian photo
  • how to shoot for post processing 
  • how to shoot in low light without a tripod 
  • how to shoot to get the most keepers- a lot of great photos from a single shoot
